Terms of Use
Last updated: August 15, 2026 · These terms cover the Doppel desktop application (“Doppel”, “the app”), published by OnlyBrutus LLC (“we”, “us”).
These terms are written to be readable. By installing or using Doppel you agree to them.
1. The license
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use Doppel on devices you control. Doppel is licensed, not sold. You may not redistribute, resell, or reverse-engineer the app except where the law grants you that right regardless of these terms. Bundled third-party components (open-source engines and libraries) remain under their own licenses, which are included with the app.
2. You review what the AI writes
Doppel generates drafts. AI-generated text can be wrong, incomplete, or phrased in ways you would not choose. That is exactly why sending ships switched off and every draft waits for you. You are responsible for reviewing and approving anything you send, publish, or rely on — including anything sent by a feature you chose to run unattended, such as Teams auto-reply, which is off unless you enable it for a named person. Doppel is not a substitute for professional (legal, medical, financial) advice.
3. Your accounts, your credentials
Optional integrations (Anthropic, Google/Gmail, Microsoft/Outlook/Teams, ElevenLabs, Tavily) run under your own accounts and API keys, directly between your device and those providers, and are governed by those providers’ terms. Costs those providers charge (e.g. API usage) are yours. We are not a party to your relationship with them.
4. Acceptable use
Use Doppel only in ways that are legal where you are and consistent with policies that bind you (for example, your employer’s rules on connecting work accounts, and consent requirements for recording meetings in your jurisdiction). Voice cloning may only be used with your own voice or with the informed consent of the person whose voice is cloned. Don’t use Doppel to deceive people about who is writing or speaking.
5. Your data stays yours
Everything Doppel stores about your work — your profile, writing samples, chat history, meetings, and documents — lives on your device, and you can delete it at any time (see the Privacy Notice). We claim no ownership of your content, your writing samples, or anything Doppel drafts for you.
Two records can exist on our side, and neither is on your device: the email address behind a beta-key request, and any bug report you chose to send. The Support page lists both and how to have them deleted.
6. No warranty
Doppel is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be error-free or uninterrupted, or that AI output will be accurate.
7. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, OnlyBrutus LLC will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of Doppel. Our total aggregate liability for any claim relating to the app will not exceed the amount you paid us for it in the twelve months before the claim (which, for a free app, is zero) or USD $50, whichever is greater. Some jurisdictions don’t allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
8. Updates and changes
We may update the app and these terms over time. Material changes to the terms will be published on this page with a new “last updated” date; continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms. We may discontinue the app at any time, because your data is stored locally, discontinuation does not delete or take your data.
9. Termination
You can stop using Doppel at any time by uninstalling it. Your license ends automatically if you materially breach these terms.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which OnlyBrutus LLC is organized, without regard to conflict of law rules.
